“A Mother’s Prayer” is a wedding song, a prayer, that was written for my son Daniel and his bride Amy. I wanted to write a love song for the wedding or reception and asked God to help me write it. I was on a ski boat at Lake Powell. The words came to me very strongly, so quickly that the original lyric was written on the only thing I had handy…the back of a snorkel box. Daniel and Amy have the original written lyrics, on the snorkel box, in their wedding album. “A Mother’s Prayer” is the story of a little boy who’s mother is praying, not just for him, but also for the little girl who is going to marry him someday. The story begins at birth, continues through the years. It culminates in the wedding, and then into the changing prayer that God will continue His guidance, provision, and protection in their lives together. It is truly a love story of a very different kind than I was thinking, but every word of it is true. Upon my return from Lake Powell, my friend and music partner, Kay Crawford, was given the lyrics and she wrote this lovely melody. We surprised Daniel and Amy with it at the wedding reception. The long version is the original. We realized that it might need to be shorter for some situations, so there is a lovely short version that was arranged by Mike Strickland.
This arrangement of A Mother's Prayer is based on the original video highlighted here. This sheet music is beautifully rendered and printed in 9x12 booklet form with a beautiful cover and non-glare paper.
